A VISIT TO THE SINGAPORE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY

Children have always had a special place in our hearts. As such, a visit to the Singapore Children's Society in Bukit Merah which is home to some 57,000 indigent children and youths, was arranged on 1 December 2011. The Society provides and support children and youths regardless of race, colour or creed.

We were greeted by the Director Ms Kim Beng Hong and her staff who are all volunteers together with forty-two of the residents of the Home. The children, aged 7 to twelve, remained captivated throughout the magic performance organised by Bumi Armada and were in high spirits as we presented them with gifts. With an allocated sum of SGD5,000 per initiative, the balance of the money was presented to Ms Kim in support of their good deed as well as the activities and programmes run by the Society.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN'S PASSION FOR SOCCER

The International Soccer Academy (ISA) was founded in 2002 in Singapore to promote soccer among young children and at present, approximately 350 players between the ages of 4 – 18 are enrolled in their training programmes. It also manages a soccer league called "Liga ISA” and as part of our community services, Bumi Armada made some contributions to the academy.

Our contributions were utilized to purchase a new set of jerseys for their players, which were used during their trainings and tournaments. A token of appreciation for our contribution was presented by Mr Ismail Hussain, Managing Director of ISA to CEO, Mr Hassan Basma on 6 June.
