The position of General Manager – Technical/Operations Support

    Role Summary

  • Ensure the availability of adequate support for the operation of the FPSOs to ensure an effective and efficient follow-up of all health, safety, environmental, legislative, technical, logistical, administrative and HR related issues.
    • Perform incident investigations
    • Analyse equipment failures and production losses
    • Assist with operations readiness for new FPSOs
    • Fill in for onshore support when required
    • Perform onshore/offshore audits prior to and during FPSO operations
  • Support company’s Marketing group with bid preparations for new Projects, attend bid clarification meetings with potential new clients
  • Coordinate staff assigned to the operational support activities.
  • To perform the operational scope & activities within the assigned budget.
  • Identify processes / procedures needed and required improvements to eliminate negative impacts.
  • Clearly demonstrate creativity and innovation in finding solutions.
  • Liaise with the GM – Fleet Asset Integrity, Operations Managers (OM) and Offshore Management Team(s) (OMT) on a frequent basis re ongoing activities.
  • Assist and support offshore management during the preparation and execution of Management of Change (MOC’s) requests from the FPSO’s.
  • Ensure the FPSO Operations Department’s commitment to the Bumi Armada company policies and procedures.

    Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage the main contract with the client;
  • Develop the project contractual documents for main subcontracts. Review with project groups to ensure comprehensive inclusion of relevant aspects including previous experience and flow-down from main contract.
  • Ensure completeness of bid packages compiled for the approved bidders.
  • Co-ordinate clarification meetings with bidders. Compile recommendation to senior management.
  • Subject to award develop definitive contract document. Review with successful bidder and prepare documents for senior management final signature.
  • Review all incoming and outgoing correspondence with main and subcontractors and client.
  • Advise the contract EM of the status of contractual activities and ensure that relevant Working Procedure (WP) is being applied during the life cycle of the project.
  • Will ensure the correct implementation of the relevant Working Procedure (WP) requirements for the preparation of subcontracts.
  • Will review and evaluate proposed exceptions and qualifications to contract documents by subcontractors.
  • Oversee the contract management during execution phase at client and main subcontracts level.
  • Facilitate Legal, Tax, HSE, Finance and Project Controls’ import into the master contracts.
  • Co-operate with Procurement and subcontract departments for the management of subcontract.
  • Provide support for the preparation of Tender Board submissions (for both proposals to clients and for award recommendation of major subcontracts / procurement packages).
  • Responsible for management of claims.


  • Specialization in claims management, dispute mitigation.
  • Monitor Engineering progress, Design reviews, HAZOP’s for new Projects, give input from Operations perspective as needed
  • For budgeting purposes and in event of budget effect due to abnormal activities, raise and obtain approval for budget variance and request for budget transfers.
  • Review all incoming incident and accident reports. Initiate and follow-up the requirements for Improvement.
  • Member of the Emergency Response Organization.
